Better Than Stinking It Up
I'm Ariel currently living in Austin, Texas. I'm an aspiring writer, comedian, filmmaker, and professional soda drinker. Let's see how that goes.
Another of my favorite chefs goes home!
New top 3:
I’ve taken Hugh out just because recently I’ve seen this cocky asshole part of him shine through. And this bitch don’t cheer on no assholes.
Not only was lez-love Christina on Top Chef Masters but so was Anthony Atamanuik! My three loves meeting: improv, Top Chef, and Christina Hendricks. Now when is the world gonna implode?? I was trying to get a screen cap of Anthony but I’m retarded so it didn’t work.
As human existence hangs in the balance awaiting the inevitable my top 3 list. Not saying I think they’ll make it to the finale or not though:
Honorable Mentions:
This season of Masters isn’t as impressive as the past two, but so far its keeping my attention. When past contestants were Willy Dufresne, Rick Moonene, Hubert Keller, and Jonathan Waxman (among others) it is hard to keep up that type of chef stature. Speaking of chefs, I really like Curtis Stone over Kelly Choi as host. Curtis is both attractive and pretty knowledgeable, which to a lesser extent, so is Padma (she wrote cookbooks and hosted food shows). Kelly always seemed out of place (admittedly I don’t know too much about Kelly Choi other than she was a model). Boobs bring ratings I suppose.
The weirdest part of the show was definitely Kelis. I get that she was a “trained chef”, but was she really all they could get? No celebrity chefs or other performers with cookbooks? You could tell the contestants were none too thrilled being criticized by a singer who is most well known for having her face on Nas’ arm. The true drama for me is when chefs become catty and defensive I wanna smack them and say “listen you aren’t always cooking for critics and other chefs so accept the fact that a normal person doesn’t like your shit”. There are more people in this world who eat at Subway than Per Se. Luckily Sue’s exit last night was gracious and humble which was nice to see. When a chef deserved to go home and realizes that, its a beautiful thing. Unless they’re like Jennifer Carroll because then its just good TV.
Anywho, that’s my Top Chef Masters day after post.
I wasn’t rooting for him to win BUT COME ON. The top 3 should have been Richard, Dale, and Angelo with Carla as the wild card (actually I hate Dale so I would’ve preferred my Spike instead). True, the “too much/little salt” issue has sent many a good chef packing. Doesn’t stop it from being ridiculous. Tiffany has always been a favorite of mine, but she should have been eliminated. Shit just got real!!
